Back from OBS!
9:24 PM

Yeah... so yeap when u see this new post... i'm back from OBS! it's been a fun and enriching 5days so i felt quite sad to leave the place. But life has to move on!

Memories of OBS: Recap!

Day 1:
-7.30am waited at Enuos MRT for the chartered bus to send us to pungol jetty. quite reluctant to go cos it's 5days and i seem to lost the enthu spirit in me liao after so much events.

-Reach OBS at 9plus (i guess), short welcome speech, divide into grps (was in Tock Seng Grp). Some ice breakers games den it's the picture zoom game.

- Actually it was a story which we need to form by sitting in a circle and communicating only to the people on ur left/right. and the story: outer space zoom in is the earth zoom in is a plane zoom in the plane is a pilot zoom in the pilot is the pilot looking at a land etc etc etc.... so it's zoomed in all the way.

- belaying course and next up snake and ladder high element. missed out on the inverted V element cos of Cat 1 warning. Wooo... i got up the high element like after a long an tiring struggle? but thanks to my team's encouragement!

- Wobbly rock wall: failure attempt lol. no more strength.

- Briefing on sailing (day 2-4) got a shock cos no one told us it's sailing for 3days!

- Pitch tent slp (another shock, we're told we have bunks!)

Day 2:
- morning 5BX and morning circle/reflection

- 4hrs of preparation for sailing (under the bloody hot sun, had hyperventilation! -.-") Boat name: Endeavor.

- sailing was fun cos god gave us wind to sail =) reach pasir ris at 6.30pm first cutter (type of sail boat) to reach and anchor. 2 other grps had to anchor in the dark and 2grps of rescue team had to be sent out cos one team went out in the dark to retrive more stuffs from cutter.

- bathe and slp in tents!

Day 3:
- morning 5BX and morning circle/reflection

- preparation for sailing (the only grp tat lowered all sails, good practise cos everyone had something to specialise in)

- sail off to sembawang but had to row out cos no wind and used motor as well. tiring process.

- sudden storm came when we were at seletar restricted zone. lowered main sail but it got caught in something, had difficulty lowering it. panicky, scary yet challenging. stormy sea and heavy rain.... after lowering, had to lower anchor near the land. visibility was super low. only one other cutter was near us, the other.... no where to be seen. how scary. slept in the rain while wearing poncho. memorable... tat was how tired i was.

- rain stopped. continued on to sembawang using motor. anchored last, last to finish transporting stuffs to main land, yet first to cook and eat finish, even helped other grp cooked food. worse nightmare.... no toilet and no bathe. Nature was the toilet -.-"

- 8pm. latest instructions... transport all things back to cutter! means not slping there. reason for moving out... haha a cute answer from instructor Andy: the island is sinking. -.- basically, it's a night for us to slp on the cutter boat. so yeap instructor Naf and Bibi taught us how to use the cutter as a toilet haha.... will nvr forget!

- slp on cutter.

Day 4:
- woke up with lots of small little insects on my back wah lao! i hate it. got a shock of my life. slept for only few hrs i guess... cos too uncomfortable.

- morning circle/reflection den preparation to sail back to OBS!

- Rowed and motor again. No wind.

- reached OBS at 12plus (i tink) unloaded, wash the cutter and all equipments, pack them back into the store again until 4plus. Oh went to medical centre, cos my middle toe nail was dropping off! and the personnel wanted to put in out! OMG. i refused treatment haha cut the nail shorter instead.

- played 3 station games. den dinner.

- jungle walk and tunneling at 10.30pm.

- came back so sweaty. knowing the 3station games had pt system. we're the last team with 600pts. and with the pts we're to buy items to build "super launcher" to launch a "ball". ours was the simplest with the least resources, yet it was the best among all cos the ball travelled the furthest. Kudos to Tock Seng!

- built another "super launcher" as a combined DSTA effort. it was a success and failure to certain extend.

- slept at 12 midnight in the tentage we used less than 10min to build. haha

Day 5:
- 5.30am. kept all tents, packed store/bags, and wash up.

- played 3 games; morning greeting in different cultures, hunter/squirrel/tree and Pokemon. Lost once in hunter, squirrel and tree. had to do "Doh doh" style of jumping jacks.

- morning 5BX

- breakfast, take water bottles, tidy up store/wash tents.

- morning circle/reflection. talked abt our feelings, wrote down gd and bad points of each other and our committments.

- noon time. Trapez (dunno correct spelling?) climb up to a height and jump off to catch a bar. 2nd last to go. stood on top the longest haha. pyschological fear. thanks to all for the support and encouragement esp for Tock Seng and Naf. haha cos we're already late in schedule.

- quick lunch. had our wallets and hp back. rush back to store to take our bags and let Naf check the store items. super rush.

- Souvenir shopping with out bags. bought 2 dri-fit shirts and a notebook [all my reflections are inside =) ]

- went to multi-purpose hall (MPH) for closing ceremony, photo taking.

- Andy's pencil maker story. Cert giving and thanking each other.

- 3 cheers to Andy, Naf and Steven!

- reached home at 5.30pm. KO-ed at 10pm. super tired.

thanks to all.... 3 cheers to everyone! A wonderful and memorable experience.

my impression of the instructors:
Andy: playful and kiddy haha
Naf: Easy going
Steven: strict!

Bascially... all morning circle and reflections had a story being told by either Andy or Naf. Will be posting those stories on my blog soon....

hopefully my dear SME juniors as well as E2 can learn something from the stories and be a beta leader in time to come =)

Toe nail getting beta i hope. Monday orientation at SHAHtec. Tue flying off to Japan.

stay tuned for those meaningful stories! it was a perfect way of starting the day for me =)
